DIY Seat Kit Helpful tips

D.I.Y Indi seat kit Helpful Tips

Before you start your seat fitting, please find these helpful tips just to make your life a little easier.

1) Spaceframe / Tubular and Historic Chassis tubs /Caterham chassis.

All tubes, awkward angles need to be panelled to prevent the indi seat getting stuck when cured (cardboard, plastic. ally panels work well)

Gear change rod that runs through the seat needs to be blanked off / panelled to prevent the indi seat getting jammed under this area.

Seat Belt mounting points (lap and crutch) need to be  blanked off or panelled  especially Caterhams as sometimes the indi seat mould can get tucked under these and make it very difficult to remove.

2) GT / Fibreglass / Carbon seat shells (inc Radicals, Historic chassis).

Some lap belt holes in these shells are quite large, tape these holes to prevent the indi seat moulding into them. You can leave part of the hole untaped as this leaves a helpful imprint in the indi seat to help cut the hole when cured.
